COVID-19 SERVICE UPDATE:
Tuesday, July 14, 2020

Dear *|FNAME|*,

If you’ve been following our COVID operations, you know how hard we’ve been working to keep our passengers and our drivers safe as we return to business activities that bear some semblance of normality.

Toward that end, and out of an abundance of caution, we’ve only been operating our largest vehicles to provide you with 6’ of distance between driver and passenger. That is still our default policy.

Some of you have found it difficult to get in and out of these bigger vehicles, and have requested that we consider putting sedans back in service with a barrier between driver and passenger.

Accordingly, we felt the need to respond to this request, albeit conditionally, to make your service more comfortable, without compromising safety. We equipped our newer Toyota Avalons with clear plastic barriers between front and rear compartments, for limited and approved service in and around the Baltimore area. Do they look good? Not particularly.

Is it the same service experience that you have enjoyed these past 28 years? Well, it’s like the car is wearing a face mask. It works, and you get where you need to go safely, but no, like everything else for the time being, it’s not the same thing as it was.

Here’s what the protective barriers look like:

Because we’re in the hottest months of the year and direct ventilation to the rear is limited to the armrest vent only (it bypasses the front passenger area), we do not recommend this for journeys in excess of 30 minutes. However, if you need them these vehicles are now available to you for local trips.

All Avalon service must be approved by the passenger, the driver, and FreedomCar management at the time of reservation.

Meanwhile, we’ve been operating at reduced rates on the big vehicles to be as close as possible to those we charge for the cars, and we’ll continue to operate these unless circumstances require that we use the smaller vehicles. This reduced pricing policy will continue for the foreseeable future.

Our focus remains on getting you where you want to go safely. Here’s a look at some of the places we’ve been taking people recently.

On our way to Dayton…

Destination: Purdue University. The Speedway folks suggested we could take a lap, but the driver was on a schedule so perhaps next time…

On the docks at Saugerties, NY...

In case you missed it the first time, we wanted to share the first few months of FreedomCar’s COVID story, which got a ton of positive comments when we sent it to you in June. So thanks to all of you who took the time to send us a note. It really meant the world to us to hear from you:

Our COVID Story >

With respect to our collective COVID experience, we know this is more like the end of the beginning than it is the beginning of the end.

FreedomCar is prepared for the long haul, don’t worry about us.

But DO know that we’ll continue to be worried about you, your family, your organizations, and your colleagues. That’s our job. And we take great pride in doing it.

Stay Well, Find Joy, and Travel Safely,
